Melting moments momentarily spent

Laughing on the sun soaked deck,

Belching crisp cold cans of watery beer.

We dreamed about our futures

expanding past what was our present.

What I wouldn’t give to hear

the crack of wit in your voice.

Surprising me at every straight

and narrow minded conclusion.

My expectations of you were always surpassed

past my understanding of your knowledge.

Ignorant of your immortality

and isms I’d miss.

One only knows what tiny shards

of heart break feels like

As each piece pricks your insides;

pools in the empty pit of loss.

When a heart shatters

time is there to stitch itself

into its crevices.

All I know is,

I miss you my friend,

My buddy,

My pal,

Nate.
